Jeremy L. Best

Paralegal

Jeremy Best graduated from Shaw University in 2012 with a degree in Political Science. He was a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society, which honors the academic success of the top 10 percent of the student body, and was named a member of Who’s Who in America’s Universities and Colleges.

Jeremy recently completed his paralegal studies at Meredith College and is also a North Carolina Notary Public.

As the firm’s paralegal, Jeremy assists in the preparation and filing of legal documents, assists attorneys with hearing and trial preparation, reviews medical records for personal injury cases, handles client correspondence, and generally keeps our operation running smoothly.

Hannah Hipp

Office Manager

As the firm’s office manager, Hannah Hipp supervises the day-to-day operations of the office.  Her responsibilities include general oversight of office administration and handling of business and client accounts.

Hannah graduated from Meredith College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and was inducted into the National History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta.

Since graduating from college, Hannah has spent much of her professional career working for The Law Offices of F. Bryan Brice, Jr.  During this time, she has assisted the firm with varied environmental topics, including Brownfields Agreements, other regulatory compliance matters and groundwater and soil contamination issues.

Originally from Wilmington, North Carolina, Hannah enjoys the sun and surf, cooking, and spending time with her dog, Gracie.

Neil Sanyal

Assistant

As one of the firm’s legal assistants, Neil Sanyal is a jack of all trades. His responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting attorneys with case organization, drafting documents, case research, client correspondence, and supervision of the office’s interns.

Neil graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in the spring of 2013 with a double major in English (focus on professional writing) and Philosophy and was named on the school’s dean’s list for his last five semesters. Neil was also part of UNCW’s club soccer team.  Currently, Neil is attending Law School at Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.

Neil is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. His biggest interest is soccer; he has played his whole life and is an avid fan of the London club, Arsenal. Neil’s other hobbies include food and music, whether it be finding a new restaurant or going out to a local music show around town.

Tanya Medlin

Receptionist

As the firm’s Receptionist, Tanya Medlin is responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to the appropriate attorneys and staff, greeting clients and visitors as they arrive from the elevator, and performing a variety of clerical duties and front office operations.

Tanya graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Fullerton in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies. The following year Tanya received her Teaching License.

In 1995 Tanya moved to North Carolina and continued teaching for ten more years in Guilford County. After a brief sabbatical, and a move to Raleigh North Carolina, she transitioned into the Business World. Tanya has been working as an Administrative Assistant on and off for 10 years. She has found fulfillment in her role as support staff in the office setting and especially values her position at the firm.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Tanya enjoys the little things like spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Kayci Willis

Intern

Kayci Willis received an Associate Degree in Art and an Associate Degree in Science from Lenoir Community College in 2017 during her time at her local Early College High School. She is currently a senior at North Carolina State University pursing a double major in Fisheries, Wildlife, Conservation Biology and Environmental Policy and Administration in addition to a Minor in Forest Management. Kayci has been inducted into multiple honor societies during her tenure as a college student including Xi Sigma Pi, the only honor society that recognizes achievements in Forestry and Environmental Resources education, and was the Vice President of her local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for Community Colleges.

Heavily involved at her school, she is the president of the College of Natural Resources Student Council, president of the Forestry Club and Timbersports Team, is a Student Ambassador for the College, a member of the Student Association for Fire Ecology, a member of the Leopold Wildlife Club, is a North Carolina Wildlife Society member, and is a recent graduate of the Chancellor’s Leadership Development Program. She plans to attend law school and pursue environmental law and policy upon graduation with aspirations to go into politics.

Her work at the office includes but is not limited to the general organization of case documents, supporting office staff, and lots of paperwork! This job provides her a background look at what goes into legal processes and introduces the implementation of law and policy at a local level.

Gabrielle James

Law Clerk

Gabrielle James was born and raised in Pembroke, NC. In 2019, she received her B.A. in Political Science and American Indian and Indigenous Studies with a minor in Social and Economic Justice. Gabrielle is a double Tarheel, currently entering her second year of law school at the University of North Carolina School of law. Gabrielle is a member of the Broun National Trial Team, the Pro-Bono Board, and a Dean’s Fellow. Gabrielle has always dreamed of attending law school and looks forward to one day using her J.D. as a tool for social change.

Gabrielle is currently working with us at the Law Offices of F. Bryan Brice, Jr. as a summer clerk as well as serving as the Community Legal Project coordinator at the Compass Center for Women and Families.

In her free time, Gabrielle enjoys baking for her friends and family and spending time with her rescued cat, Hamilton.

Jasmine Washington

Law Clerk

Jasmine Brodie Washington is a rising third year law student at University of North Carolina School of Law. She was born and raised in Bunn, NC. In 2014, Jasmine graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina A&T State University with a B.S. in agricultural and environmental systems. She then served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay from 2014-2016, with projects focused on sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation and reproductive health. Jasmine’s legal work experience includes summer internships with Southern Environmental Law Center, and Chief Justice Cheri Beasley on the Supreme Court of North Carolina.

During the 2020-2021 academic year, Jasmine will serve as the Publication Editor for the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology,  president of the Environmental Law Project at UNC, and be a competing member of the Holderness Moot Court Environmental Appellate Advocacy team.

Bella Hohler

Law Clerk

Bella Hohler is a rising third year law student at Wake Forest University, where she is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Religious Studies.

Bella is originally from Rochester, New York and attended Roberts Wesleyan College. She graduated in December 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in history. She was also a captain and four year starter on the women’s soccer team. In 2017, she married her college sweetheart, Matthew.

Bella enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, playing tennis, and walking her three dogs; Oliver, Magnolia, and Truman.
